Cookie Notice
A short explainer for a small cookie footprint. Necessary storage only, unless you opt in to more.
This notice explains what cookies and browser storage the site uses and how you can change the choice you made.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file placed by a website in your browser to remember something between visits. Browser storage (such as localStorage) does something similar without the file. Both are used sparingly here.
2. The consent bar and preferences dialog
On your first visit, a bar appears at the bottom of the screen. You can accept optional cookies, reject them, or open the preferences dialog to make a category-by-category choice. Your choice is stored in your browser under the key gci_consent_v2 so we do not ask again. The “Cookie preferences” link in the footer reopens the dialog whenever you want.
3. Categories
Strictly necessary. The site needs these to function. They cover the entry that remembers your cookie choice and short-lived navigation state. They are always active.
Functional. Set only if you opt in. They remember small UI preferences, such as a dismissed tip, so we do not show it again.
Analytics. Set only if you opt in. They help us understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are read most, which sections cause drop-off. When enabled, they are configured with anonymisation in mind.
4. Third-party assets
The site loads web fonts and an icon library from public content delivery networks. When those resources load, the third-party provider receives the standard request information every web request carries. Providers may set their own cookies under their own policies.
5. Managing your choice
Reopen the preferences dialog from the footer at any time. You can also clear the gci_consent_v2 entry through your browser's site data settings to reset the consent record entirely.
6. Do Not Track
Because there is no universal industry standard for Do Not Track, we treat the signal as a preference to decline optional categories until you explicitly opt in through the dialog.
7. Changes
If categories change, this notice is updated and the “Effective” date at the top moves.
